Battlefield 3 Limited Edition 'Physical Warfare Pack' Detailed

First proper look at some in-game weapons

In keeping with its recent trend of rewarding early buyers, EA and DICE are offering a Limited Edition 'Physical Warfare Pack' for Battlefield 3 players. In this case, the content is only for those who pre-order, and only in the UK via GAME or gamestation -- other countries will soon be able to pre-order for other bonus items.

Unlike with Bad Company 2, rather than instant access to weapons and mods, three of the four items are exclusive: the Type 88 LMG, SKS sniper rifle flash suppressor, and armor-piercing flechette ammo (the other is the DAO-12 shotgun, and is unlockable to all who don't pre-order).

For those concerned about weapon and armor specs, senior gameplay designer Alan Kertz notes via Twitter, "Before the forums goes all 'omg magnum ammo', armor piercing comes at the expense of lowering damage. It's also unique to flechettes. And no, there's still no body armor spec. To be crystal clear: there's no way to increase the damage you do either. I want BF3 to feel as balanced as humanly possible."
